Natural Stone Protection Experts

A penetrating sealer may help prevent staining, but it will not stop acid etching on marble. A coating may offer stronger protection, but it may not be right for every surface or aesthetic. The correct solution depends on the stone, its finish, its condition and the performance you expect.

Every protection plan begins with understanding your stone, your environment, and your expectations. From there, Stoneshine restores, protects, and finishes each surface to your desired appearance and performance.

Prevent Etching

Protect marble and other calcium-based stone from acids found in citrus, wine, coffee, vinegar, cosmetics and everyday household products.

Prevent Stains

Reduce absorption from oils, food, beverages, cosmetics, moisture and other contaminants before they become difficult stains.

Simplify Care

Reduce maintenance demands while preserving the appearance, feel and character that made natural stone worth choosing.

Protect New Installations

Protect countertops, floors, showers and architectural stone before the first signs of use, wear or damage appear.

Improve Performance

Help heavily used kitchens, bathrooms, floors and commercial spaces withstand everyday life more successfully.

Plan Long-Term Care

Develop coordinated restoration, protection and maintenance programs for residences, estates, portfolios and commercial properties.

Every Recommendation Starts With Three Questions

The strongest protection plans begin with diagnosis—not a product list.

1. What Is the Stone?
Marble, limestone, quartzite, travertine, terrazzo, slate, soapstone and granite have different strengths and vulnerabilities. We evaluate composition, finish, porosity, age, previous treatments and current condition.
2. How Is It Being Used?
A family kitchen, spa bathroom, hotel lobby, coastal residence and commercial floor place very different demands on stone. Traffic, moisture, sunlight, cleaning, entertaining and daily use all affect the recommendation.
3. What Do You Expect?
Some clients prioritize the most natural appearance. Others want the lowest maintenance or strongest possible protection. We build the strategy around your priorities—not a one-size-fits-all system.

EXPERTISE CHANGES THE OUTCOME

We Know What Works Because We Restore What Fails.

Stoneshine’s restoration experience gives us a practical view of natural stone protection. We see how sealers, coatings, films, cleaning practices and everyday use perform over time—and where they fall short.

That experience allows us to recommend solutions based on the material and the installation, not marketing claims.

Questions We Help Answer

Good protection begins with the right questions. We help clients compare realistic options and understand what each system can—and cannot—do.

What is the best way to protect natural stone?
The answer depends on the stone, finish, location and expected use. A professional evaluation identifies whether sealing, surface protection, restoration or a combined plan is appropriate.
Is a penetrating sealer enough?
Penetrating sealers can reduce staining, but they generally do not prevent acid etching, scratching or surface wear. Their role must be understood within the complete protection strategy.
How can I prevent marble from etching?
Acid-sensitive stones such as marble and limestone may require a surface protection system designed specifically to resist contact with common household acids.
Will protection change the appearance of my stone?
Some systems are designed to retain a natural appearance, while others may alter sheen, texture or depth. We explain these tradeoffs before work begins.
Should stone be protected before or after installation?
Protection is often most effective when planned early, but existing stone can also be restored, prepared and protected. The correct sequence depends on the installation and current condition.
